The issues I've noticed - can't add new wireless network interface (it doesn't up), also wifi is quite sensitive to firewall ipv6 rules (probably - because of QoS krouter scripts, after rules deletion wifi devices won't connect with reasons 1, 6, 7).
I believe the root cause is related to the integration between Marvell wireless driver and the kernel, so it supports quite limited number of use cases. _________________ Asus WL-550gE -> Asus RT-N16 -> Linksys WRT32X
I am beginning to think that the WRT series is afflicted with incompatibilities internally, that cannot be overcome.
I think KONG was the smartest, dropped personal support for them as soon as it became an obvious waste of time. _________________ My "WRT" rant, and why I have gone ddwrt on x86, no more consumer routers. ( ac86u as access points & bridges )
Still, Linksys doesn't allow us to disable WAN. This will cause the router to crash and not function properly until a reset is done.
I am pretty sure this is on Linksys's side.
I cannot be sure if the WRT series has its own conflicts internally because the WRT3200ACM router is not available in my country, only its gaming brother, WRT32X is. If not, I would have gotten the WRT3200ACM instead of the WRT32X. @LookingForMyMojo
Is there anyone with the other WRT models out there facing huge problems? (Only applies to the Wireless-AC models)
Does your WRT3200ACM have issues?
There is a chance that there is a bad integration between Marvell and the Linux Kernel. But my question is: Why did Linksys choose Marvell if they know that Marvell's drivers are not good? Based on this website: https://community.linksys.com/t5/Wireless-Routers/WRT-1900AC-amp-Marvell-chipset/td-p/814326 , it looks like there is a problem with Marvell's drivers and Linksys made a bad decision in choosing their chipset vendor for this series of routers. @andycpp
However, the WRT32X and the WRT3200ACM run the same chipset. Even so, the WRT32X and the WRT3200ACM have the same FCC ID which means the same hardware. Unless the WRT32X have different wiring schematics with the same chips, I don't see the problem in running DD-WRT or OpenWrt on the WRT32X. And not only that, the WRT1900ACS and WRT3200ACM is both supported by DD-WRT and OpenWrt and there are people who have successfully flashed these firmwares into those routers with these Marvell chipsets. If the uboot environment variables are different, I am pretty sure BrainSlayer knows about it too. So, I have a feeling that this is on Linksys side. I have a feeling they are blocking the installation of Open-Source firmware.

Thank you spuriousoffspring for the information on IPVanish. I have been beating my head trying to get this to work for the last several months. Adding the certificate to the ovpn file worked and I now have the vpn running on the stock WRT32X router. Now to work on the DD-WRT firmware. _________________ Linksys WRT32X

I'm not sure if the latest firmware update includes an option to disable ipV6. This is a major security flaw that I made Linksys aware of months ago before I returned my WRT32X.
If there is the option to disable ipV6 then make sure to do so when you have OpenVPN Client enabled.
If there is not, then just be aware that your location is still being sent.

There are procedures available to flip the WRT3200ACM to run with the WRT32X firmware... Can we not just reverse that process on the 32x to 'become' a 3200acm? It is documented on how to revert from the 3200ACM running 32x back to a 3200, can we not just do that part of it? If we do that wouldn't we then be able to flash the 3200acm dd-wrt build?
as latest ddwrt 35034 has updated dts for new nand flash, you can try to just flash wrt32x with ddwrt :
be sure you are on partition 1.for that just ssh into your router (putty) using root user :
#fw_printenv boot_part
is result is 2 then :
#fw_setenv boot_part 1
#reboot
download ftp://ftp.dd-wrt.com/betas/2018/02-17-2018-r35034/linksys-wrt32x/factory-to-ddwrt.bin and SCP it into /tmp folder.
then you can use this (using putty):
#cd /tmp
#sysupgrade -F -n -v factory-to-ddwrt.bin

I had already flagged a ticket to BrainSlayer so that he will update the DTS. It is based on what @adi-brasov had mentioned earlier on because of the new NAND flash chip that the WRT32X and the WRT3200ACM has.

I have recently ordered the WRT32X (WRT32X-CA specifically, but i doubt the region matters).
I was just wondering if it is likely that DD-WRT will ever be available for this model. I was under the impression the whole WRT line from linksys was designed with open source firmware in mind.
Anyhow, if this device is unlikely to get DD-WRT support anytime soon I will cancel order and order the WRT3200ACM instead.
I am currently using a WRT1900ACv2 (It is a WRT1900ACS hardware wise, 1.6GHz Dual Core w/ 512 ECC Ram). My WRT1900ACv2 is currently Running ExpressVPN's modified Chaos Calmer OpenWRT. [OpenWrt Chaos Calmer 15.05.1 r49389 / LuCI for-15.05 branch (git-16.206.66468-6f5c466)]
I was considering switching to DD-WRT on this device, but to be perfectly honest it works just fine atm, though it is under a great deal of load that can show up in performance.
While there are only 2 Wired LAN devices on my network, I have 24 Wifi devices. Prior to using a VPN it was acceptable performance wise. But now that the router is running a VPN w/ 26 total LAN connections, the unit is barely managing.

I wish I could give you a definite answer. I too am waiting for the WRT32X to get DD-WRT support.
I returned mine when it became apparent that this wasn't going to happen soon or at least before the 90 day return period expired.
I would be very suprised if the WRT32X doesn't get DD-WRT support sometime in the near future, but it's a question of when.
I believe the developers have prioritized the more popular routers, but I would assume that at some point will return to fix the Linksys + Marvell line. Or at least I hope!.
My suggestion would be to give it some time and if nothing happens - return it before the 90 days are up.
