Hi
I am expecting a delivery tomorrow or soon after of a Netgear R8000.
I intend to flash it with the latest kong dd-wrt.K3_R8000.chk file, since my first purchased of the Netgear r6250 I hope Ive learnt a few bits from reading on this forum.
I have 2 questions if I may please be kind still pretty new, a few bits are contradictive/conflicting so I thought I would ask to be clear.
After the initial dd-wrt flash I previously did a 30-30-30 reset, but since reading on here it can sometimes harm ARM devices and it’s not to be used, so first question, is factory reset from the DD-WRT gui the same as logging in under ssh and running command erase nvram then reboot if not which one should be used?
It’s my understanding that the cpu in the R8000 is the same as R7000 so is the overclocking command line the same? I am a little apprehensive overclocking it without asking due to the offload processors.
I have searched on here regarding overclocking the R8000 but as yet not able to find answer, I did find a post on myopenrouter regarding overclocking the 8000, are these below commands still current as they seem to differ to the R7000 or is the wl0,1,2 the offload processors?
nvram set clkfreq=1200,800
nvram set overclocking=1200
nvram set wl2_atf=1
nvram set wl0_atf=1
nvram set wl1_atf=1
nvram commit && reboot

Thanks for any help and insight you can provide in advance.

the "atf" commands are Air Time Fairness.

The CPU is the same on both routers.
However, I seem to recall Kong disabling OC'ing in his firmware a while back due to the amount of novices leaving them overclocked, upgrading and then complaining when the router wasn't stable.

The only work around I can think of for that would be to update the CFE but I don't recommend it.

Thanks for the heads up on atf just been reading about that Cool
i was aware Kong had removed overclocking from DD-WRT GUI but i thought it was because the ram speed defaulted to 400 when using the gui.
it's still ok to overclock via command line i thought maybe i am wrong?
I've overclocked 3 x R7000 for friends to 1400,800 with great results for stability and vpn through speeds, well no reports back saying any different.

These should work fine:
    nvram set clkfreq=1200,800
    nvram unset overclocking
    nvram commit && reboot
If it doesn't take, then set `overclocking` to 1200, but shouldn't be needed. It's only used by the GUI to reset the overclock speed if there's a mismatch from the clkfreq parameter.
