Just a quick follow up (for anyone who might have searched and looking for answers to the same issue I had)...
I ended up installing 34311 from 12/29/17 (which I've seen recommended in other threads) and it appears to work great. With SFE enabled (i.e. the default setting) and following tatsuya46's recommendation to put eth0 on core 1 (thx for that) I do get download speed of around 940Mbps (when testing using Cox's speedtest), which is about the same as with Netgear's firmware.
So, looking great, and I guess I'll keep the R7800.

What does each one of those do?
moves cpu interrupts to core 1 for those 4 interfaces, looks like wan, wifi 2.4, wifi 5 & i think ethernet lan. too much, all that will do is shift overloaded core 0 to overloaded core 1 with interrupts.. defaults all on core 0 but with wan only on core 1 is the best well rounded setup that should be the "default".. _________________ LATEST FIRMWARE(S)

I just got AT&T Gigapower Internet, and my speeds are better with Kong DD-WRT than the latest Netgear firmware on my X4S r7800.
But, I'm only able to get about 700 Mbps down and 330 Mbps up to the AT&T speed test website (says powered by DSLReports.com).
This is through a patch cable to the wall plate, Cat5e ran to the other side of the house, to a Netgear 8-port gigabit switch (whole house is wired), to the r7800, and finally to the BGW210-700 Gateway in IP Passthrough mode.
I'll do some testing to the r7800 directly to see if there is a difference.
Try a few different test sites. Depending on the test site and server I get from 360mbs to over 900mbs. Site and server results will vary widely. From my ISP Cox site I get a bit over 900mbs. legacy.speedtest.net is a good one to choose different areas and servers to test from.
In San Diego Cox gave me 875mbs while ATT gave me 365mbs.
Don't expect to see the magic 940mbs unless it's an internal test in your house.
Have fun. _________________ Segment 1 XR700 10Gb LAN, 1Gb WAN ISP BS

Hi,
I am running DD-WRT v3.0-r36995 std 09/19/18(https://download1.dd-wrt.com/dd-wrtv2/downloads/betas/2018/) on Buffalo WZR-HP-G300NH2.
I get 50+MB download when I run direct speed test from the router speed test page, https://192.168.1.1/Speedchecker.asp. I only get 10-15MB download when I speed test from a LAN connected device. The WLAN downloads 20+MB consistently.
I am pasting my networking configuration below. Please let me know if there is anything I can do to get 50+MB download on LAN ports.
