Hi, I have Linksys E2500 with Mega version of dd-wrt installed.
I followed exactly what is in the wiki : Optware, the right way.
I have Apacer 32 GB flash drive.
I really don't know what is the cause of error so I go and try around many things, each time I went over all the process again.
Formatting the flash drive many times using FAT, NFTS.
Use only 3 partitions and left partition 4 unused, used all 4 partitions.
It still doesn't work.
I really need help on this, please.

In order to install Entware, I need to mount my USB first anyway. So this time I changed from format by Linux command line and use G-Parted instead.
I only format it into 3 partitions because I use usb and not need jffs, however, when attempting to mount this was the result and I still cannot mount the usb.

What version are you using?
Old versions had their problems and I read somewhere that in recent Mega versions the ext2 module was missing (because of size limitations?) not sure though
Try to format with FAT only?
G parted is recommended for formatting

At first I tried again using G-Parted to format and partition the USB Flash drive but it doesn't work so
I followed your paper and it suggested that it will be the most simplest to have 2 partitions, so I tried with that first but I still not able to mount it.
You can also see that there is no UUID field for me to fill in.
Here is what I did to my USB Flash Drive. The unused partition I planned for storing data but that will be handled later. Just want to make sure it can be mount first.

Change the volume name in GParted or Partition wizard. Change the name to "Optware". It will auto mount to /opt.
JFFS may have to be written as "Jffs" or "JFFS", I am not sure about that one. _________________ Before asking a question on the forums, update dd-wrt: Where do I download firmware? I suggest reading it all.

Thank you for your advice but it still doesn't work. Here what is appear.
I'm totally don't understand what's the problem is. I have attempt to use other USB stick, upgrade firmware, etc. What else could be the cause of the problem.

Why is the Partition name: Basic data partition?
Don't label the Volume. Label each partition. It should auto mount them. If this is a harddrive, use NTFS or EXT4. _________________ Before asking a question on the forums, update dd-wrt: Where do I download firmware? I suggest reading it all.

I have labeled partition as you said and it still couldn't be mounted.
One things that weird here is that Optware partition become ext4 on dd-wrt web GUI but I did format in ext2. I have check it again on both partition tools and it confirmed that ext2.

You can manually mount them via the mount command.
mount --bind /(physical location from USB tab) /(mounted location)
ex: mount --bind /dev/sda2 /opt
If you want to always have them mounted, add it to your start up script (Admin tab, Commands), paste the command, click Save Startup. Reboot and see if it works. _________________ Before asking a question on the forums, update dd-wrt: Where do I download firmware? I suggest reading it all.

Actually I'm doing this as my senior project in the university.
Finally my professor help me sort this out, after I have attempted for a month.
If no matter how much you're trying to mount it and it doesn't mount.
For USB FlashDrive

Format using MiniTool Partition Wizard, have only one partition and label it as "OPTWARE". Use FAT32 format instead of ext2. Magic happened, it's work !!
