Should my speed be a lot slower DIR 880L

ISP router is bridged to DIR 880L with firmware from bottom of this page https://www.dd-wrt.com/forum/viewtopic.php?t=268579&postdays=0&postorder=asc&start=240 (factory to ddwrt)

I am only getting 1/3 of my internet speed without changing any settings. Is this normal? Looked all over but I cannot find anything & I am a total beginner
All I want is my vpn installed onto router so I don't need to run it on every device.
This is wired speed not wifi

Thanks for the reply,

The 1/3 speed was without VPN. Just ISP router set to bridge mode from LAN to DDWRT LAN.

I am on 1gb & with software I get a max of 200 so I am just wanting to see what I would get with it on the router.

Do you think the Linksys would be a massive improvement or would my speed still be very limited

I know with SFE enabled, the Netgear R7800 can just about max out a 1Gb/s line, no VPN. It gets more than 100Mb/s VPN speed though.
