I have a Linksys E1200 that I want to flash DD-WRT onto. I'm interested in using it with OpenVPN.

I have a laptop that I sometimes travel with, an Android tablet with 4G and an Android phone.

When travelling, I want to be able to connect to my home network (to access its resources) and to forward internet traffic.

I've seen a bunch of tutorials that talk about how to do things like this. But they invariably say to do this or that for bridges or tunnels and such.

But I'm unsure just what I need or where to begin finding out. One concern I have is the possibility of conflicting IP ranges. How do I deal with the this possibility? Meaning if the hotel uses the same network IP as my home network.

I am in the process of polishing my setup notes, maybe they are helpfull.
Let me know if things are not clear.
As @Eibgrad said (it is also in my notes) use an obscure IP address for your home network.

I've always used 10.1.1.x for my home network. I guess I was hoping that maybe bridge (or some other type of setup) would let OpenVPN operate even if there were such a conflict by somehow telling it what to do in such an event.

But I wasn't sure what terms to search for. So if I'm understanding you correctly, it sounds like if both my home network and the VPN network use obscure IP ranges, I should be ok.

I'll take a look at the notes you posted.

I'm thinking 10.1.1.x for the home network and 10.8.1.x for thr VPN network. Would you anticipate any issues with that?
