I was looking at the timeline and it looks like builds are being made with the 4.14 Kernel.
I have no idea if that's good but as I'd imagine it may be better somehow?
Perhaps someone who has been following that part to chime in about how that might specifically effect us. _________________ WRT3200ACM

savagepagan- What, pray tell, are you talking about?
I'm talking about DD-WRT using a different Kernel then it has up to NOW! So why are you posting bogus broken links, working now lol.
There are very few ways that this will effect us the only reason I mentioned it is because folks will have teething pains.
I'm testing r35034 now and I'll see soon enough how it works.
No new Kernel?

Who knows, it may even work for more than five minutes on the WRT1900AC v1! _________________ Linksys WRT32X v1 - r45677

Doubtful.
Your wrt1900ac v1 has given you lots of fun and grief. Time to move on to a Asus AC86U or Netgear R7800. The Netgear will run dd-wrt and RMerlin makes good builds for the Asus. Both will run circles around the wrt1900ac v1.

Was surprised when I installed a Netgear r8000 in place of a wrt3200. Wireless speeds increased and more stable.

I think I'm going to follow you to the dark side. I'm thinking R8000 as well. Do I need to worry about any certain version # v another? (like how linksys completely changes architecture in versions)
Is that a broadcom chip? I'm just thinking ahead to find the right forums.

@akr-wrt
Currently there is only the one version of the r8000 so no worries there. I am running the latest Kong right now on mine without any issues.
Yes it is broadcom based. Thing that surprised me when I first installed was how much faster the 5Ghz wifi was on my simple iperf test compared to the wrt3200 I have and with a slower cpu but has off load cpu's for each wifi radio. Also have a r8000p which runs really well, but no dd-wrt support at this time. Keeping fingers crossed as I understand that Brainslayer does have one or two in house. Openwrt/LEDE is a non start even though the have a build as the wireless drivers they are using are opensource and not very feature rich. To use the drivers provided by Netgear you need a license and signed a non disclosure from them which Brainslayer has.

Quite the opposite actually, r31924 has been rock solid for me, if a little long in the tooth. It just surprises me that a year on, we have not had a stable DD-WRT upgrade. The router hardware is solid, apart from the fading LEDs, so I have never regretted my purchase, having made the switch to DD-WRT. The first nine months with the crappy Linksys firmware was a different kettle of fish altogether! _________________ Linksys WRT32X v1 - r45677

Yemble! The person who got me in this mess!
Haven't saw you on here in a while, hope all is well!
All I can say is the build I am running now on the 1900v1 (even though it is just an AP) is the FIRST one that didn't make mine either keep rebooting or sit there with just the power light on. I also saw some commits for the newer 3200's nand issue, hopefully that fixes it for the newer people here. _________________ Tutorial for flashing WRT series WRT Installation,Upgrade & Basic Setup–Cliff Notes

It appears to me that almost every appliance that uses a Linux based operating system has followed the lts release schedule of the kernel. DD-WRT hasn't always used 4.9. And you're probably not seeing 4.14 released for DD-WRT until everything that isn't needed is stripped out for size and functionality.
Honestly, I don't see where the rancor is coming from.
Now, if only Google would follow the lts release schedule and modernize the Android kernel...

was just checking-in. glad to see you're still flying high with that broadcom beast of yours. i'm happy to say me-too!! huge diff from the 3200acm. methinks, i'm preferring that merlin interface to dd-wrt as well. should the asus start displaying any of those drops that i've read about, netgear here i come. so far though, it's been a real pleasure.
. . . kind of nice not having to wish and hope that the next build will be "the build." _________________ asus rt-ac86u stock: 3.0.0.4.384_45149
