I have enable openvpn server on my router wdr 3600. i`m using this Firmware: DD-WRT v3.0-r34929M std (02/12/1
On the lan when i`m using speedtest i get download 960 mbps and upload 600 mbps(without vpn). On the vpn connection with cable i get 8 mbps on the wifi same. It`s any chance to increase the internet speed ? Its hardware limitation? The cpu on the router its used only 4% when i`m using vpn. I just search over the internet and i put some settings on the client, seems now its working with 13 mbps. My provider offers me gigabit,i just whant to know if i can improve the speed.
With that router completely forget it. With the R7000 I'm getting around 40-ish.
And If i put it on the laptop ? Or on another router like archer c7 or c9?
C9 is exactly as R7000. C7 I don't think you get to 20. On a laptop is not ddwrt topic, you would be limited by your VPN provider than by your x86 CPU. _________________ R6400v2 (boardID:30) - Kong 36480 running since 03/09/18 - (AP - DNSMasq - AdBlocking - QoS) R7800 - BS 31924 running since 05/26/17 - (AP - OpenVPN Client - DNSMasq - AdBlocking - QoS) R7000 - BS 30771 running since 12/16/16 - (AP - NAS - FTP - SMB - OpenVPN Server - Transmission - DDNS - DNSMasq - AdBlocking - QoS) R6250 - BS 29193 running since 03/20/16 - (AP - NAS - FTP - SMB - DNSMasq - AdBlocking)
You mention openvpn *server* in your opening statement, then proceed to describe what seems to be an issue w/ the openvpn client ("my provider"). Although even there it's not clear which provider, ISP or VPN?
There's just enough ambiguity here that I want to be sure where both discussing the same thing.
ISP provider. _________________ R6400v2 (boardID:30) - Kong 36480 running since 03/09/18 - (AP - DNSMasq - AdBlocking - QoS) R7800 - BS 31924 running since 05/26/17 - (AP - OpenVPN Client - DNSMasq - AdBlocking - QoS) R7000 - BS 30771 running since 12/16/16 - (AP - NAS - FTP - SMB - OpenVPN Server - Transmission - DDNS - DNSMasq - AdBlocking - QoS) R6250 - BS 29193 running since 03/20/16 - (AP - NAS - FTP - SMB - DNSMasq - AdBlocking)

Ah okay now I see what you are referring to. Point taken.
Though, wouldn't be the same or even worse if he's talking about Server? _________________ R6400v2 (boardID:30) - Kong 36480 running since 03/09/18 - (AP - DNSMasq - AdBlocking - QoS) R7800 - BS 31924 running since 05/26/17 - (AP - OpenVPN Client - DNSMasq - AdBlocking - QoS) R7000 - BS 30771 running since 12/16/16 - (AP - NAS - FTP - SMB - OpenVPN Server - Transmission - DDNS - DNSMasq - AdBlocking - QoS) R6250 - BS 29193 running since 03/20/16 - (AP - NAS - FTP - SMB - DNSMasq - AdBlocking)

I get low speed on my client, I was not very clear sorry . I have ISP 1000 Mbps , when I use speedtest without vpn connection I get high speed , when I connect to vpn I get low speed (8-10 mbps) I just whant to know if I can improve client speed.

Ok, then from what I understand you are setting up an OpenVPN server in your router. Why are you setting up a VPN server in the router? What are you achieving with that? _________________ R6400v2 (boardID:30) - Kong 36480 running since 03/09/18 - (AP - DNSMasq - AdBlocking - QoS) R7800 - BS 31924 running since 05/26/17 - (AP - OpenVPN Client - DNSMasq - AdBlocking - QoS) R7000 - BS 30771 running since 12/16/16 - (AP - NAS - FTP - SMB - OpenVPN Server - Transmission - DDNS - DNSMasq - AdBlocking - QoS) R6250 - BS 29193 running since 03/20/16 - (AP - NAS - FTP - SMB - DNSMasq - AdBlocking)

Because all ports at my job are closed , except 80 and 443. I just need to access some google` apis and repository.

See what I mean? You just interpreted that response as OpenVPN server, whereas I interpreted it as OpenVPN client.
We'll figure it out eventually. LOL
Sorry, OP, we're (I'm) being picky here because I want to be sure we're both solving the same problem. At the moment, OpenVPN *server* sounds irrelevant. You're simply try to determine why your speed is so much worse when using your OpenVPN *client* (presumably connected to some VPN provider) than when using the WAN to your ISP, correct?
Yes, that's the point .I forgot to thank you , because you helped me to set up that vpn server
