Can I set up DD-WRT to function as a switch & have the wifi functioning on a different pool?
For example:
Port1 of DD-WRT connects to main router on 192.168.1.1 network.
Port2 of DD-WRT connects to PC and it picks up an IP from the main router
WiFi of DD-WRT operates on 192.168.2.1 and the wifi can access the internet, but PCs on 192.168.1.1 cannot access 192.168.2.1, and 192.168.2.1 cannot access 192.168.1.1 PCs.
I ONLY want internet to work on the 192.168.2.1
PC's on 192.168.2.1 CAN access other PCs on 192.168.2.1
I think this should be possible, but I'm not sure how to set that up.
However, I think it might still be using the WAN port, which would be fine if I am able to configure it that way, but I need my PC on port 2 of the DD-WRT router to pick up its IP from the main router.
If this is what you want then set it up accordingly.
If you want to have a guest wifi (an unbridged Virtual Access Point isolated from the rest of the network) on this Wireless Access Point I can send you instructions
Yeah, that's pretty much exactly what I want. The guest wifi isolated from the rest of the network, but with internet access.
Here is one way I thought to do this with the additional hardware of a dedicated switch. I would rather do this in an all in one package. I also still need to buy a DD-WRT capable router to flash.
