Hi,
I've been on
DD-WRT v3.0-r27506 (07/09/15) std
since 2015 running very stable on my WNDR3700v2.
Since I accidentally put my router into a reboot loop (see https://www.dd-wrt.com/forum/viewtopic.php?t=314399), I had to do a rest. I got lucky with just holding the reset button for 30seconds, afterwards I could reboot and everything was back to defaults.
I though let's give a new build a try since I have to redo all the settings anyway, but I wasn't able to flash using the webgui. I tried severy builds >30000, and for all of them there is the same result: the gui says "upgrading firmware", then after 15 seconds "Upgrade successful, rebooting", but after the reboot, the firmware hasn't changed.
Is there anything wrong with these builds for 3700v2? I'm a little reluctant to try tftp since I've read reports of problems with this as well.

I can check later today. I have a Netgear WNDR3700v2 (and v3). I will try and upgrade the v2 later today. I don't usually upgrade it because it is not in use. _________________ Before asking a question on the forums, update dd-wrt: Where do I download firmware? I suggest reading it all.

I've run many builds >30000 on my WNDR3700v2 without problem. See below.
15 seconds seems fast for the upgrade, but maybe OK. Make sure that you allow it to reboot completely after the upgrade.
Also, several times after a GUI upgrade, the GUI does not show the upgraded build number until I do a power cycle. (Resets via GUI, command line, or button does not fix. Power cycle is needed.)

I just upgraded my Netgear WNDR3700v2 from 33215 to 35531. I have not tested the stability of the build as I am not using the router, it just sits on a shelf.
So maybe it's a r27506 problem? Or anything else I can try? I tested several versions >30000, none of them showed any different behavior. I didn't try the power cycle yet, though.

My advice : just flash your wndr3700v2 via tftp. I haven't tested r35531 build this way, but tftp usually works very well (direct cable link of course).
Besides, a typical wndr3700v2 15MB webflash takes me about 180s, so 15s is clearly not enough...
And if 15MB size is a problem, you can try one of the lasts 8MB flashes, for example r29218.
Besides, what are the major advantages of the current build vs something like 27506? I know I can read up in the change log, but I think that's quite long. Anything major? Maybe I should just stay with what has been running stable for years...
That only shows the last 10 days by default. Change it to 90 days and take another look.
Some major features have been added since that old build: SFE (Shortcut Forwarding Engine, Setup page) speeds up NAT, but does not allow the use of QoS, yet.
Newer Linux kernels. _________________ Before asking a question on the forums, update dd-wrt: Where do I download firmware? I suggest reading it all.

Hi,
I'm new to this forum and this is my first attempt with dd-wrt on my Netgear WNDR3700v2 router. I have loaded a series of dd-wrt versions successfully. However the last one to be successful was r35667. The others r35681 through r35898 all fail with the same process as identified by others. Initially the router shows loading however reboots in 10-15 seconds then shows failed. Performed the 30/30/30 prior to several attempts with the failed loads and no improvement same result. Has a cause for this been identified?

I can confirm that this device (WNDR3700v2) cannot be flashed with the recent builds. That last working build is r35681. The newer builds are too big (1300 KB bigger than r35681 and previous). That’s also discussed here, where is talk of using TFTP or command line for flashing the new builds. But these methods did not work for me either.
Thanks to ian5142 for additional search areas I had read most of these and found no successful loads, only a bricked router attempt using the tftp process, thers similar problems relates with inability to load any version after r35681, most likely related to increased size now exceeding 16 MB, appreciate the confirmation by Vico56 with similar conclusion. At this stage unless something is done to reduce size it doesn't seem the 3700v2 will have further support.
