I'm going to upgrade the router to DD-WRT and was wondering if anyone has direct experience with it. In particular are there any DD-WRT versions that work particular well or poorly with this router? If it was your router, which version would you install?

Thanks in advance for any advice.

I am currently on: 03-26-2018-r35531
it has been working well for me but my use case may be different than yours.

I know it can be a pain but you can always go through the build threads or search for that version. remember YMMV

Hello Garydale !

I don't have that particular router but I did a little bit of research and came up with this:

-> DD-Wrt has a recomended version in the router database, but is a older one (21061 \ 14896 - https://www.dd-wrt.com/site/support/router-database ), looking at the previos comment by " Wildlion " it seems that you would be ok also by using the version 35531 ( ftp://ftp.dd-wrt.com/betas/2018/03-26-2018-r35531/dlink-dir825-revb/ );

-> It seems there is also a suported release for the Router dir-825 of the DD-Wrt version 35681. You can check it out in the link: ftp://ftp.dd-wrt.com/betas/2018/04-06-2018-r35681/dlink-dir825-revb/ .

-> Use first the factory-to-ddwrt-[yourcountry].bin , then use the dir825-firmware.bin file .

-> Remember I never tried this configurations I am just tryng o help you giving you the links and resources.

Hope this helps Very Happy

In my experience, D-Link routers run pretty well on the beta builds. I have a D-Link DIR-859 A3 and i found that build 03-20-2018-r35452 is pretty stable.

I would suggest using something from 2018, I am currently running 35681 on my 825 B1. See the link in my signature.

NEVER USE THE ROUTER DATABASE, EVER.

Thanks everyone for your advice. This is an upgrade for a "production" router serving/protecting an office. I'd previously upgraded a Linksys router and the advice I got for that was somewhat different (stay away from the most recent releases - stick to a particular one from late last year).

Took the following quote from another thread:

You will have to update via tftp or command line.

So from that specific version, the webupdate was disabled? Is that true? Shocked

no, its just broken, or was. my router that was affected is working again on the current build. it was just one's opinion cause it wasnt working for a while (aka broken, like many parts of the firmware for years)
