Hi All,

I'm currently running DD-WRT v3.0-r31100M kongmv (01/08/17) on my WRT1900ACSv1 and I would like to upgrade to the latest DD-WRT version that if I'm not wrong should be the following one

My question is. Can I safely follow the approach described in the DD-WRT Installation, Upgrade & Basic Setup–Cliff Notes topic and in particular what described in the section "Trick to Upgrade DD-WRT Firmware without losing current configuration or the need to return to Stock Firmware"?

I normally make a backup then go back to stock then re-flash then load the back file

Personally if everything is working with the Kong build i would stick with it as the BS builds this year have been a little bit different, but if you want to swap i would use the last build from last year

What Eyerex meant is he keeps the Linksys partition available which makes life easy if there is a bad flash. Also easier should you want to try something like LEDE.
Please read the stickies or the threads in my sig, they are the same. Lots of good info including how to maintain the Linksys partition. With the 2 partitions these routers are almost impossible to brick unless you really try.
