Installed r35898-2018.05.07 on my WRT1900ACS_v1 as flash upgrade from previous build (r35874) without issues. On the previous build I did a full reconfigure, but had a couple workarounds implemented:
* port forwarding, needed to set SourceNet to 0.0.0.0/0 to prevent an issue with WAN/Internet
* ntp client - router couldn't get date/time from public ntp. I was setting manually but now permanently will use a local (pi) NTP server I have.
After installing the new build and confirming everything was working, I then backed out the port forward workaround -- and everything is still working!
DD-WRT config reference for my WRT1900ACS_v1 (not vanilla, not overly complex): mostly wired devices ~75, wireless using 5GHz-Mixed & 2.4GHz-Mixed both @ 20MHz width non-overlapping channels (also have 2 APs in house) w/ ~20 clients, IPv6 on, DHCP reservations for all known devices, access rules (internet block security cameras), port forwards, no QOS, running OpenVPN server, firewall rules (OpenVPN & Guest), Guest 2.4GHz wifi segmented network/dhcp

Sweet! I bet brainslayer loves knowing people appreciate his work. I also work in tech usually you only hear about broken things. I totally appreciate it.
Wireless on this build seems 'stronger' than usual for me. My only reference to this point is I typically upgrade my router, reboot, then also reboot two APs I have in the house. Usually all the clients reassociate with the stronger/closer APs -- but today it seems like everyone really is liking this build -- they just won't let go! (My setup is most basic mixed mode at 20MHz both 5GHz and 2.4GHz - with non-overlapping channels). These are mostly cameras but also a wifi scale, amazon fire stick, maybe something else...
I've had r35858 running on my Linksys WRT1900ACS v2 for a couple hours and so far, so good. I using OpenVPN as a client and have ~30 wireless/wired devices. Wireless speeds are fast (~500 Mbits/s) as measured with iperf3. So far, it's been stable. _________________ FIRMWARE: 6-20-2018 - r36168
