Cannot get any data throughput with TL-WR703Nv1 configured as STATION BRIDGE (Routed) with latest
dd-wrt r54079 (2024/11/17).

Attempted many times to follow Station Bridge configuration instructions to the letter, but no data throughput !

It worked with older r33679 (2017).

Instructions for setting up station bridge:
https://github.com/egc112/ddwrt/blob/main/DDWRT%20Wireless%20Bridge%20v5.pdf

But it is possible it is broken I would avoid if possible (as described in the notes)

Be sure to reset to defaults and put settings in manually, never restore from a backup (to a different build)

If it has gateway assignment on both Setup -> Basic Setup and under the Setup -> Wireless tab, you have to enter the same value for the upstream router in both. Save, Apply, Reboot.

I have 2 of these little TL-WR703Nv1 pocket routers and both are upgraded with the latest r54079.
I have followed the Station Bridge (Routed) instructions precisely and both are showing the same problem. The wifi connects to the house router but I only get about 100Kbps throughput.
Clearly they are not both broken as egc pondered !

Following your suggestion I have configured the following:
Setup > Basic Setup > Router IP > Local IP Address = 192.168.0.152
Setup > Basic Setup > Router IP > Gateway = 192.168.0.1
Setup > Basic Setup > Router IP > Local DNS = 192.168.0.1

Wireless > Basic Settings > Radio Mode = Station Bridge (Routed)
Wireless > Basic Settings > Default GW Mode = Manual
Wireless > Basic Settings > Gateway = 192.168.0.1 ...this is the same as my house router

No change...still only 100Kbps throughput !

OK, I also have the impression that the Station Bridge is busted.

Any chance of a dd-wrt developper looking into this issue ?

Good luck, BS once said that he would rather remove the mode than fix anything.

The only other thing that would affect anything is the wireless settings, which don't need to be changed other than SSID, wireless security bits, and channel. If you changed anything else, it may impact throughput and performance.

>>> BS once said that he would rather remove the mode than fix anything.
That would indeed be a shame.

I'm not alone wanting to configure routers as Station Bridges. Unfortunately most router manufacturers factory firmware blocks the Station Bridge mode...they want you to buy one of their dedicated devices. There's always wifi range extenders that can be used for this purpose but dd-wrt is indeed the prefered method...if only it would work!

I have a TP-Link Archer C9 running r53469 in Station Bridge mode without any issues.
r53469 on the TL-WR703Nv1 would not work.

>>>The only other thing that would affect anything is the wireless settings
Haven't changed anything in the wifi settings.

https://wiki.dd-wrt.com/wiki/index.php/Client_Bridged

Quote:
Only use this or Repeater Bridge mode if all of the others are unsuitable: WDS, Client, Repeater, or AP. Client Bridge will never be as stable as any of those modes. It is by design a hack and not a true transparent bridge like WDS. It will cause connection problems for more than a single client. See Linking Routers for a description of each of the modes.

Given what ho1Aetoo mentioned, but if you still want to use 'Station Bridge' mode, I'd suggest try MikroTik.

Thanks for all your suggestions but...just as a reminder, this Atheros TL-WR703Nv1 device was working in Station Bridge mode with r33679 (2017).

So something has happened in the dd-wrt builds since then ???

I'd say that it is ridiculous to expect anybody (all volunteers), developer included, to satisfy your query that would require going through all software versions, since r33679 in 2017, to point out what changes have resulted in a function of your router no longer working.

A lot of changes and versions happened in six years!
