Hi,

I have just implemented VLAN's and virtual AP's for each vlan on my R7000 devices, that I am only using as AP's.
I am using build Firmware: DD-WRT v3.0-r53815 std (10/30/23

Regarding the VLAN's : I have read on several posts that the R7000 needs startup commands to properly use VLAN's.

Code:
sleep 20; stopservice nas; wlconf eth1 down; wlconf eth2 down; wlconf eth1 up; wlconf eth2 up; startservice nas

Is this still necessary in the latest builds?

That is not necessary.

Also VLANs can be set in the GUI nowadays.

It looks like you are coming from a very old build, in that case a reset to defaults and setup from scratch is highly recommended.
Do not restore from a backup (to a different build that is).

Hi,

thanks for your explanation.
However the build that I am using is not 4 months old.
Is that so old? Has there been much development/bugfixing in this time?

Regarding the upgrade :
what would be the easiest way of configuring the router after flashing?
Taking screenshots of every page, and then manually reconfiguring everything?

Thomas.

If you have been using:
Quote:
sleep 20; stopservice nas; wlconf eth1 down; wlconf eth2 down; wlconf eth1 up; wlconf eth2 up; startservice nas

than I assume that was for a much earlier build.

If you did a recent rebuild from scratch you do not have to do it again when updating a 4 month old build.

For a rebuild from scratch make screenshots your browser probably can print to PDF which is the easy way to make screenshots

OK thanks.

Is there any way of knowing if I restored a backup to a recent build, that the router is not performing optimally because of this? And that I'd better reset and reconfigure manually?

Or do I just leave it as I do not have any apparent issues...

That is up to you Smile
Strictly necessary it is not.

I personally reset to defaults and rebuild from scratch about once a year as a kind of spring cleaning, also for reviewing my settings and looking at new settings, but that is just me Smile
