Just in case this helps some other soul.
I had to enable ext2 file system under services->usb->usb storage options buttons.

So I am now at a point when I manually do:
#$ insmod mmc

followed by:
#$ mount -t ext2 /dev/mmc/disc0/part1 /mmc

I am able to get this to mount.
It also shows up as mounted on web gui... see image below.
My only pain point remaining is that I have to manually type the 2 commands each time the router is rebooted!!

Is there something that I am missing that prevents the option buttons in the admin page for mmc preventing it to work?

PLEASE HELP!!

well figured it out.
Used startup commands option in the gui to send the manual commands I was doing after reboot.
And its working perfect.

OK SO TWO more questions:

QUESTION 1:
should the amber (or orange) light go off after the card is loaded?

Mine does go off but atleast the card continues to be mounted.

Any solution to keep the light on as long as the card is mounted?

QUESTION 2:
The GUI shows my processor is overclocked to 300MHz
But the "demg" log shows processor is at 250MHz.
Who should I trust; what's the actual processor speed?

Ok guys, if anyone is still reading...

HELP PLEASE!!

I have a WRT54G-TM Router running DDWRT with heat sink, FAN and SD Card Mod (2GB SD CARD).

I have mounted the opt folder on the .ext2 file created on the card.

I am running into TWO issues:

(1) When I use WinSCP to transfer a 234MB file to my SD Card it fails at about 9% and the router reboots

(2) All my wireless clients loose internet access when connected to this router!! All machines show they are connected to the router but with local access. If I wait for a while the internet access comes back.

Below is what my router looks like:
