Here are some feature requests.

1, option to set the country for the WLAN card, to be able to use channel 12 and 13. Now i do this from my startup script with wl country command. When the router boots up, the default country is US I think.

2, option to set the uplink interface to WAN or WLAN. I use the router to connect to a wireless ISP, so I establish a pppoe connection over the WLAN interface to my ISP.

3, option to set some extra pppoe parameters. For example a textbox in advanced options to enter some additional pppoe parameters, for example "mppe required". Something like editing options.pppoe file.

What do u think of these?

Huh Question

1. Channels 1...14 can be selected -- always.

2. Change wireless mode to "client".

Re:
1. I couldn't connect to the AP on channel 12, it was not evel listed in the survey. Changing the country from US to some european country solved the problem. In client mode you have to specify only the SSID of the AP, and the router isn't looking for that ssid on channels 12 and 13.

2. I'm already in "client mode". I'm not sure about this, but changing to "client" mode is not enough for setting up a working internet connection in my case. After connectiog to the AP, i have to set up a pppoe connection, but by default the pppoe connection is set up through the WAN interface, which is not even connected in my case.

Which version of DD-WRT are you using?
Where do you select the country? I've never seen that in DD-WRT.

In client mode, the radio (rather than an ethernet port) constitutes
the WAN interface. Thus, the WAN settings should refer to the radio.

My startup script does this:
ifconfig eth1 down
wl country HU
ifconfig eth1 up
You didn't see it, that's why I posted this feature request.

I didn't know this, so I used this script to achieve the same result:
vconfig rem vlan1
brctl addbr vlan1
brctl addif vlan1 eth1
ifconfig vlan1 up

My private WLAN is on channel 13. When I select client mode,
set the channel to "auto", and enter the appropriate SSID and
encryption mode, DD-WRT would always find the AP. I've never
touched the "country selection".

Reset to factory defaults and try again, without any sort of
"country selection"! I'd be surprised if it doesn't work.

What does your router response to the "wl country" command?

Code:
~ # wl country
JP/JAPAN

this is obviously the default setting of the version used here, i.e.,
v23 SP1 as of 06/05/06 (=SVN2458)

I use v23, and my default setting was US. Smile

Also keep in mind that the wireless NIC in your computer that you are connecting to the router WITH must also support these extras channels.

For example, if you purchased a wireless card in/from the US, you will never be able to use any channel above 11, no matter how you configure the router (unless the WNIC also has hacked/open source drivers/firmware).

No problem with that! :)

So it seems, that it only remains one feature request:

1, The ability to set some extra rp pppoe options, via a textbox. Maybe these options should be directly appended to the options.pppoe file. The default value for this textbox should be the options that are in the options.pppoe file, except those options that are configured on the basic setup page like pppoe username and password.

Example default value:
"pty '/usr/sbin/pppoe -I eth1'
noipdefault
noauth
defaultroute
noaccomp
noccp
nobsdcomp
nodeflate
nopcomp
novj
novjccomp
nomppe
nomppc
usepeerdns
default-asyncmap
mru 1492
persist
lcp-echo-interval 5
lcp-echo-failure 3"

Thanx for helping.
