Alright. Starting from the beginning.
Original Firmware when the device was received was 1.1.07
Could not upgrade to the lasted build 13064 via tftp
Each time I tried to install dd-wrt the process would fail at 94% while uploading the bin.
Next I tried to install DD-WRT using 12533 which went great. After 12533 was installed I decided to install the latest build via the gui interface using the eoc5610-firmware.bin
Install appeared to go well. and I received the success message on the admin page. But when I tried to connect to the device I could not. I let it sit for 20minutes, thinking it might have been installing something.
Till I looked up and realized there was no longer a light on the switch. When I went to the roof to check the 5610 I noticed it only has a power light lit.
I've tried hold the reset button down for 30secods, i've tried tftping into it but of course that fails, I cannot ping the device.
I strongly recommend someone look at the EOC-5610's bin on the latest build. As it appears there is definately something wrong. _________________ EOC-5610 -dd-wrt soon....

Sash,
How do you suggest I reflash the AP when it does not respond to pinging? _________________ EOC-5610 -dd-wrt soon....

I don't understand how you know that redboot is still good.
When the AP is plugged into a switch and powered on. It does not light up the port. I cannot get a ping response from the router.
I will try redboot again tonight and see how it goes. I will post back with my results. _________________ EOC-5610 -dd-wrt soon....

Alright. Confirmed again. As per my previous post.
Reasons I know EOC-5610 is bricked:
1. The device only has the power light lit, you can see a very very dim WLAN light.
2. When attached from Device, to POE, to computer. Computer does not detect anything is plugged into network card.
3. When attached from Device, to POE, to switch. The switches port does not light up. Thus it does not see the device either.
4. I do not see the device broadcasting a SSID from the wireless devices.
5. I have ran ping -t 192.168.1.1 while powering on the device. This runs for several minutes without ever getting a response.
I cannot get into redboot, unless there is some other magical trick I am unaware of.
This unit is dead. I would not recommend updating to V24 preSP2 Build 13064 via the webflash.
Also. I looked at the board and It has a 4 pin connector inside named JP2. Is this a serial connector? _________________ EOC-5610 -dd-wrt soon....

Alright, I was not aware that you could not kill redboot via a webinstall.
I guess I'll start the RMA process on Monday.
Is anyone aware of how forgiving Engenius is on issues like this? _________________ EOC-5610 -dd-wrt soon....

As long as they are including that little paper that says "How to flash to DD-WRT" in the box, then they had better be ready to suck it up. _________________ http://69.175.13.131:8015 Streaming Week-End Disco. Station Ripper V 1.1 will do.

Well,
Per Sash if updating the firmware via the web interface can not destroy the redboot. It wasn't the update that killed it.
But I can say for a definite fact that initial attempts to tftp the latest firmware of Dd-wrt to this router would not work.
tftp of the release just before the latest did work via tftp.
Update from build 12533 to build 13064 via the web gui update interface and directly after that the router no longer responds to ping or any other command. neither just after boot or any time afterward.
Maybe it was just pure bad luck it happened at this moment... I don't know. Hopefully things go smoother with the 2610 and I can get that up and working as an access point for the neighbors.
I am still awaiting a response to have the key reset ( or can I just use that key again on the new device?) _________________ EOC-5610 -dd-wrt soon....

Suggestion : I dont think RedBoot is damaged. Try connecting directly from your PC to the POE and reinstall a PREVIOUS version of dd-wrt.
I had this issue when upgrading to 13064, and proceeding with a hard reset, a redboot installation of the previous version, wait the reboot. Then disconnected the POE, rebooted once again, all was fine.
If this step does work, then, you can install the 13064 version with RedBoot.

This is no good, The computer does not see anything plugged into the network card when this configuration is used. _________________ EOC-5610 -dd-wrt soon....

Can anyone try this and tell me what they get.
1. Connect a computer directly to POE adapter.
JUST the POE adapter nothing else. Leave the other side disconnected.
Question: Does the computer detect the cable plugged into the ethernet port?
2. With no power supplied to the POE adapter.
Plug 1 side into your computer, the other into a normal switch.
Question: Do you get any kind of link to the switch?
I'm wondering if something may be wrong with the POE adapter and not the ECO-5610. But this still wouldn't explain why the EOC-5610 does not appear to have any WLAN link. _________________ EOC-5610 -dd-wrt soon....
