I have some nanostation2 devices that let you choose via software which antenna (horizontal or vertical) to use, I also bought some engenius 2610 and there's no such feature in engenius web interface; will updating to dd-wrt let me choose what antenna to use in my engenius 2610? thanks.

NO. Unlike the other radio, the 2610 only has a horizontal antenna, so that is the only option regardless of software settings.

Hi, effectively, but you can solve this situation by plugin an external wired antenna, and then chose which position is the best to suit your needs.

So, to make it clear, the EOC-2610 APs internal antenna is horizontally polarized, right? (sorry to ask you to confirm this, but I've been digging this everywhere without a clear answer).

Dual Polarity.
http://www.engeniustech.com/resources/EOC-2610%20Antenna%20Pattern.pdf

The antenna elements are perfectly square.

I can test pretty easy to be sure. I have a pair of them on towers with 24 dB grids already. I'm about to install another new link ( as soon as I can get off my lazy ass ).

When I installed my first 5 KM link it was both radios with only the internal antennas. Then on one end I added a 24 Grid, horizontal. If I remember correctly my RSSI improved by about 17 dB.

10 dB dual polarity antenna = (7 dB + a little) in each plane, correct ?
