How is it 'bricked'
I have bricked a WHR-G300N
When it is bricked, only 1 LED shows lit and the RED LED is OFF
IF it is in that state - it is probably bricked.
If your WHR-G300N has a flashing red led - it is NOT bricked
You can recover, but you have to open it up and recover via serial console.
More info is needed.
what did you flash? what lights are lit? what OS are you using? _________________ Soylent Green Is People !

Linksys EA8500 - OpenWRT IPQ806x Trunk R16375 5.4 Kernel
Red light blinking = Uboot waiting for a valid firmware
your router is definitely not bricked - it is recoverable. _________________ Soylent Green Is People !

I managed to do exactly the same thing as the OP, although I've had no luck with the TFTP flash so far.
As with the OP's WHR-G300N, mine displays a constant red DIAG light (not blinking) and the green power light.
When booting, first all lights flash once, then the DIAG light flashes three times, then stays on. This takes about 2 seconds.
I've followed "TFTP flashing - The easy way" but I get no response when pinging 192.168.11.1 as the device is loading and TFTP can't do any better. Any suggestions?

What OS are you using?
The #1 problem with TFTP flashing is if you are using Windows Vista or Windows 7
It has an upgraded TCP/IP stack which will disable the network port on your computer
if it does not detect any connectivity, and it can take 3-5 seconds to re-activate it when you power-cycle the routers.
Because the TFTP window is also around 2-4 seconds as well, you can miss the TFTP window!
Windows XP does not do this to the network port, it leaves it active as well as Linux.
If you cannot get access to Win XP - try a Linux Live CD
Or alternatively - you can put a hub or switch between the computer / router
so that Windows thinks that the network port remains active.
Last possibility - connect a serial cable to it and flash through u-boot.
It is HARD to brick the WHR-G300N - it's almost always recoverable. _________________ Soylent Green Is People !

1. Power off router
2. Turn off firewall , in Win7 the Windows Firewall too !!
3. Start tftp2 . select the firmware.tftp , set Server : to 192.168.11.1
4. Set your networkcard to 192.168.11.x Gateway 192.168.11.1
5. Power on router , when the networkcard detects connection klick upgrade.
6. Wait
7. When the router have rebootet set your networkcard to 192.168.1.x Gateway 192.168.1.1
8 Try http://192.168.1.1 and set login name and Password. _________________ Gruss / Greets

During Step 4 I should be able to ping the router:
Code:
PING 192.168.11.1 (192.168.11.1): 56 data bytes
Request timeout for icmp_seq 0
Request timeout for icmp_seq 1
Request timeout for icmp_seq 2
Request timeout for icmp_seq 3
ping: sendto: No route to host
As you can see, the router is not responding. I've also tried pinging as the router is starting up, with the same results.[/code]

Hi
you cant ping the router because the time for the tftp is 2-4 sec.
if you have a symbol or icon that show if the network established or not then you must type put firmware.tftp and press Enter when the network is established after reboot from router.

haha, this page is 2 years old. I just kept trying, I can't remember the exact diagnosis of my routers problems, but I tried for about 15 min, eventually i just got the timing right.
Reply from Buffalo regarding my diag lamp flashes twice.
Unplug the AC adapter from the wall socket, wait for a few seconds, and then plug it again. If the unit pulls up the same error then the unit needs to be replaced.
