I followed the instructions at http://www.bitsum.com/openwiking/owbase/ow.asp?WRT54G5%5FCFE

Because I'm an impatient idiot, I didn't read thoroughly before attempting, and flashed the Standard firmware instead of the micro. Now the power LED keeps blinking at me. Have I completely hosed myself?

I've tried the Mini upload via TFTP in the first three seconds of boot, nothing changes. Any advice would be welcome, and worth cookies.

If the router responds to pings, you can probably recover it.
Skip the mini build, use the micro.
One common mistake with the micro build is to use the one for wrt5g.
For flashing the 2mb routers, I think you've gotta use the generic micro version.

generic is for web-gui, use the type specific filename for TFTP, in your case:
http://www.dd-wrt.com/dd-wrtv2/down.php?path=downloads%2Fdd-wrt.v23%20SP2%2Fmicro%2F&download=dd-wrt.v23_micro_wrt54g.bin

Tried it with the above-linked file, I still get the flashing LED five minutes later.

The router is pingable, for what it's worth.

Any thoughts?

Thanks, incidentally.

Worked the second time with the micro-generic build.

Thanks!

Well, everything else being equal, use the generic for web-based upgrades and use the build with the model hint for tftping.

However, the v5/6 JTAG-less upgrade requires the micro generic.

From bitsum's instructions...
Quote:
Download [DD-WRT micro generic]. You may want to check [DD-WRT] to make sure there isn't a newer version than v23 SP2 beta 08/03/06. Do not use the one labelled 'WRT54G' or 'WRT54GS', use the 'generic' version.

People seem to have used them interswitched successfully, only the header looks to be modified for TFTP. I use them as per my previous post, just to be sure.
