Hello.
I have used the DD-wrt V24-sp2 for Planex GW-MF54G2.
What i want to know is to share the MAC address restricted wi-fi internet connection.
I found that for that purpose, the repeater mode is what i want but I encountered a trouble with which I have struggled for many hours.
The hotel I'm staying at allows guest whose PC'S MAC address is registered to use internet. Guests have to pay the connection charge per MAC address;)
First, I tried to connect the internet in the way of connecting upstream AP (hotel AP) to DD-wrt by wi-fi and dd-wrt and my PC with Lan cable.
That worked good. But I added virtual wi-fi interface to dd-wrt and i succeeded to connect dd-wrt by wi-fi from my PC. But I couldn't go to the internet. (IP address of WAN has been obtained as well as the conncection using a cable.)
Is this that above MAC address restriction makes the
connection to the internet impossible?
I would be apprecited if any advises are provided.
I tried the MAC address clone as you said while I had registered the WAN port's MAC address (of wifi) to the hotel. But I failed.
And I found that even in this environement requiring
MAC address registration, my two client PCs (connected to DD-WRT with cable and wifi) can access
the gateway of the network but doesn't go to the internet.
I think another authentication (but still related to MAC address) system may be woriking. I don't know how to deal with this matter.
Any advices are appreciated.
Your DD-WRT router gets an IP from the AP, right ?
Your PC was linked to the DD-WRT router by wire and it was working, right ?
So, instead of you using Repeater, give it a try using client, and also client bridge. If I remember right, client bridge should mask the MACs behind it, so you should have no trouble.
Can you ping a direct IP ? if yes, it can be an issue with the DNS you are using, may be you should start looking on this, first.

i)wifi-eth bridge
I connected to DD-wrt with ethernet cable and DD-WRT connected to wifi-AP. My PC's ethernet port could get
IP address from the network and I could goto the internet.
ii)wifi-wifi bridge
Onto i)setting, I added a virtual wifi AP to DD-WRT.
And when my PC accessed the virtual AP, my PC's
wifi adapter could obtain the IP address as well.
But different from i), I couldn't go to the internet.
This is the situation. Are there any attemps for me to do?
Hi, is your virtual AP bridged or unbridged ? You have a selector under your VAP, named Network Configuration, it should be bridged. Also, your LAN should use a different IP range than the main AP. _________________ 2x EOC-2160 - AP 2x14dB Yagy to 450m link

I have checked the situation of the bridge before.
Here, I can't remember it exactly though, I confirmed
that the ath0 and ath0.1 are bridged in a certain
section of DD-WRT in which the situation is shown.
Last part of your mention, do you mean I have to set dd-wrt as a NAT router ? I have already tried that one. But the result was same.
Can you ping a public IP from your PC ? if this works, then you have a DNS problem.
IP Yahoo = 209.191.93.53, give it a try an report.
Your router has to be configured as Gateway. _________________ 2x EOC-2160 - AP 2x14dB Yagy to 450m link

I think I see. What IP does get your router from the AP ? It seems to me that both the AP are under the IP range 192.168.1.X ... so it can not work, which is normal.
Go to the setup tab, and change your LAN setting to something different, like 192.168.99.1
Change your DHCP server to 10 minutes and 5 users.
give a DNS like : 208.67.222.222 (openDNS)
Save, apply, reboot the router, and reconnect from the PC.
Please report, thanks. Michel _________________ 2x EOC-2160 - AP 2x14dB Yagy to 450m link
