Can someone tell to me when I have to pay for activation and when not? I've search forum and wiki but I don't find answer.
I just brought 2 ubnt router stations for me and my friend. I was trying to use OpenWRT but it do many kernel crashes when using wpa/wpa2 so I've install DD-WRT which works perfectly but this one requires activation for 20 euros
Is there version for RS without activation?
thanks

Sir,
The only version without activation is OpenWRT
The DD-WRT requires activation
It also is very much worth the price.
We have and use DD-WRT on the UBNT RS and RS Pro
Also most of the people on this form will help you and try to explain to you in attempt to resolve any problems. Also you can email DD-WRT directly if you need additional support or help
Good luck and activate the software you will be happy you did _________________ Mitch
Hi to all!
i have a routerstation pro.
if i want to try the routerstation with dd-wrt, it works for some times for test before i active it or not?
and after i have activate it, when i upgrade to a new version of dd-wrt, I should pay every time?

It works for about 23 hours without activation, not recommended it is hard to config and test in that time as I found out better to activate and be done then test without such tight timelines

Once you activate the RS it is activated. If you reload and loose the activation you can re activate the same RS at no cost
Activtaion is based on the hardware MAC if the RS dies and you get a new RS then yes you have to buy new activation
We have 9 RS-PRO as AP's
8 RS-PRO as PtP Backhauls
21 RS as clients
46 gateworks (2347 and 2348s) to replace
just got 37 gateworks loaded with DD-WRT _________________ Mitch
ok, thanks!
I would like to do a last question: how the activation happens? or better, first I install the demo and then their send me a code to introduce for the activation or, in the moment that i buy the license, they give me a different link for the download?

No, the activation is to the router board MAC
you can use all the minipci slots without a new activation
Enjoy the great DD-WRT software _________________ Mitch
