Does anyone know if CB mode works with a DIR-300 A with 18000 firmware?

I have CB mode working with a WRT54G, connecting to the same access point,

Also previously connected a DIR 300 Rev B router with 18777 successfully to the same AP.

But I just can not get the Rev A unit to connect and act as a bridge.

It shows it is connected to the AP via status wireless page, but from a PC connected to it I have to manually set the IP address, and can't ping the Gateway.

it does not seem to be acting as a Router and allowing my DHCP server to issue IP addresses to computers connected at the CB end

Have tried to upgrade firmware to 18777, but this fails, on both Rev A units.

I am now at a bit of a loose as what to try next. tempted just to try random builds and risk bricking it.

imho: cb on athoros is a nogo! in general is nogo for me on any platform!
