We do alot of hosted VoIP deployments (ippbx in the cloud)for small to mid sized organizations and at this point we havent found a Dual WAN router thats rack mountable, can handle Load Balancing and at a reasonable price point.
I have been a long time fan of DD-WRT since 2003, but now have come to need a commercial platform that can reliably handle VoIP.
If there is a configuration from the DD_WRT shop that can handle the following requirements, please guide me as we have a lot of work on hold due to Cisco trashing their own firmware when it comes to reliably handling VoIP traffic in a Dual WAN environment. We've looked at Edgemarc but their equipment is way out of the price budget and their interface blows, not that Cisco's is any better.
the idea here is to pay for development of a LB/FailOver with GUI which can be installed on a standardized hardware platform.
I can get a full Atom PC kit in shallow 19" for less than the soekris and it be able to handle much higher throughput and lower overhead on field-based repairs. The OS I would prefer to use is DD-WRT Professional. This is in part why x86 platforms have been asked. Otherwise I'd settle for a ZyXel USG50 or Cisco RV042G thats been re-flashed.

Hello,
I have been a fan of DD-WRT for a few years now and I too, would love to see support for the RV042G V1 Gigabit Router and its Dual WAN capabilities, in particular, in the GUI. I agree that the Cisco software for this unit is poor at best and, with all the features you guys are packing into DD-WRT software, it would be well worth it to have DD-WRT on this router. I too, would be more than prepared to purchase one of these routers and donate it to you. Please advise. Thanks. Sincerely,
