wan type disabled that looks like bridge mode to me & thats why, either do:

1. use qos on the host router
2. make this router the host & use qos on that
3. put a separate subnet on this router & double nat

ive an old dir 615 that i flash with a ddwrt as well, but it work with the same setting [the img i post earlier]using bridge mode,[not using wan port, direct lan cable from main router to wr740n lan port]
the qos did work on the dir 615,will this feature be support in the future for this wr740n v4.27?

Hello ,i have a problem with my DIR-615 E5, am stucked with the DD-WRT v24-sp2 (03/17/11) std SVN revision 16454), the funny thing that drives me crazy , after upgrading to any newer version all works good , until i do restore my configuration! first noticeable thing that makes me roll back WiFi goes down and never comes up again , what can i do? how can i run commands to get results to compare them before the restoring and after ,and to post in here.
Thank you all for the great work Crying or Very sad

even the older version build 27240 same, qos DO NOT WORK.
please can anyone help me? i m desperated as i promise my brother that i will help him fix his qos problem, been working on the router for 3 hour now, please can anyone help?

define "doesnt work", it was broken on 27240, but its working now. i was making noise with the developer myself & running tests to get it fixed, i depend on it too

ok posting this here as i resolve the issue using uncommon way,as i just want the ap,the secondary router as wifi only [the wr740n]for guest/other family member, using the normal bridge mode + qos will not work, but! if i create a virtual wlan ssid/guest mode, and add the ath0.1[the guest virtual wlan] at the qos option, interface priority, then set it to the uplink and downlink speed i wanted and then apply, and it works!even when the guest virtual wlan is set on bridge mode in the advance setting on wireless/virtual interface. it completely ignores the the other qos option.this is the only way to make it work as a ap is bridge with the main router, with wlan qos.hope this will help anyone that got the same problem as me.

Kernel: Linux 3.10.81-rc1 #4297 Sat Jun 20 03:33:09 CEST 2015 mips

Reset: none before or after web GUI upgrade from Buffalo's version 19484
Errors: None

Upgraded without resetting through the web GUI without any problem other than that it lasted longer than I expected.
Some new settings, apparently. Gui colour changed to blue. Need to go through all settings, but looking very promising and nice, too. Dark bg.
TX Power down from what it was.
GUI through HTTPS protocol works again (in Chrome at least).
Thanks to Kryptex for the thumbs up.

As someone else already commented the settings backup file is only 8 bytes long, which can't be right.
However, I've been using a shell script on the router to store the essential settings to another shell script from where they can be restored by running it. I believe the script was called Frater's script after the maker of the original.
I have edited it a bit for my own purposes, and used it a lot between community DD-WRT versions at least.

Whenever I needed it, it worked for me i.e. I was able to restore the settings after a reset to a new firmware version, which one can't reliably do with the nvrambak-file.

However, for my latest upgrade from 19484 to 27396 today, I didn't use it at all, since I didn't have the router do a reset. Everything still worked after this huge upgrade Smile
Any current opinion on the usefulness of Frater's script type of solutions to carry over the loads of settings of a router?

I don't know about the Frater script, but would it be too complicated to configure the router manually from scratch ? As you've said, you made quite a big jump there and I'm sure there are a lot of parameters that changed...

According to a comment in my script the original script can be found here:
DD_WRT Wiki-page 'Useful Scripts'

To manually restore all settings as they were before upgrading requires writing down each and every setting first. That's already a lot of work! Let alone entering them again without errors.
IMO I have a simple setup, but there's so much that I've figured out along the course of my history using DD-WRT and I can restore it all this way without errors. I have close to 10 terminal devices (2 notebooks, 2 smartphones, internet radio, VoIP phone, TV, NAS ...), some scripts, QoS and what not. But no VPN, hotspots and other esoteric stuff.

Frater's script has been a godsent for me. Perhaps it has been forgotten in the DD_WRT community. My version is from 2011. That's ancient Wink

Unfortunately the script doesn't run on this version 27396. See other thread.

it does not matter either wan/wlan & lan, because ive tested it like this:
1.using lan & wlan, without adding any interface limiting, qos does not work without interface limiting

2.using wan, without adding any interface limiting, qos does not work without interface limiting

3.using wlan & lan ,qos value of wlan and lan set lot lower than interface limiting bandwidth, but the bandwidth only stop on interface limit setting.

4.using wan ,qos value of wlan and lan set lot lower than interface limiting bandwidth, but the bandwidth only stop on interface limit setting.

my english is not that good, hope u understand what i m posting.

An essential part of 'Frater's script' is the following line:
nvram show 2 | egrep '^[A-Za-z][A-Za-z0-9_\.\-]*='

The full script aborts with an error message in version 27396.
Essentially the same error message is produced when running the above single line of code in the DD-WRT GUI.

/dev/nvram: Out of memory
size: 20 bytes (131052 left)

Others have reported a problem with the nvram backup file and this points in the same direction, I would say.

Could anybody running a newer firmware version than 27396 volunteer to run the above command and post the results?
