OK, here's the scenario.
We are making a product that needs to be a client and an access point all at the same time. I currently have a few Ubiquiti Ministations with the newest DD-WRT build (13064). On the Ministation that will be embedded into our custom device (Lets call it DEVICE1): The client-bridge side will always be looking for an AP named "2WIRE000" and will also be an AP named "2WIRE###" (### being 3 random numbers)
The idea is that any laptop will be able to to connect to DEVICE1 using the "2WIRE###" SSID without any additional hardware OR if a computer will need to connect to more then 1 of our DEVICE1s, a receiver module (lets call that DEVICE2) will be used on the laptop which is also Ministation (also DD-WRT flashed) that will only be an AP with the SSID "2WIRE000", which all of the DEVICE1s will automatically try to connect to all of the time.
OK, so settings this up, DEVICE1 will have its ath0 SSID as "2WIRE000" and be set to client bridge and its ath0.1 SSID will be "2WIRE005" and set up for AP. DEVICE2 is only an AP with the SSID "2WIRE000".
All wireless security is set and confirmed... now here comes the issue:
When I set up the receiver module, DEVICE1 connects to DEVICE2 and then DEVICE1 starts broadcasting the SSID of its Virtual Interface AP, but as soon as DEVICE1 looses connection to DEVICE2, the SSID on DEVICE1 disappears (and stops working).
TL;DR:
It seems as though the ath0.1 Virtual Interface doesn't work on DEVICE1 unless the ath0 is connected to DEVICE2.
hi
the steps of connecting are :
first it establish a connection from its client side .. and from that it obtains its wireless channel
second it transmit the AP side
thanks
