Sash, believe me, I have been trying to explain this to you for the longest (when it comes to this problem), it has nothing to do with "read the instructions in the dl folder", that was done, and applied, countless nr of times. For about 3 other posts I've been saying that it won't take any firmware, not dd-wrt/original (both versions)/openwrt, this problem is due to a write fault (so called nuke) of the board/radio config in v24-pre-sp2.
I happened to wipe out my board config and radio config before. I posted what I did to restore on the openwrt forum, here is the address
basically, the board config. is at some place that dd-wrt redboot can't write. so I restore the original redboot. Then get a copy of the board info, dump into the correct address using the original redboot.....
anyway, you should be able to follow from what I have posted in that thread.
so u guys have to be more carefull while flashing. i successfully flashed 5 dir300 yesterday without problems.the first time i bricked one was while flashing back from the crappy oswave _________________ Forum Guidelines...How to get help

well, sometimes it's not about how careful.
I wipe my out using bdrestore...somehow, bdrestore nuke last sector...and I am not sure why dd-wrt's redboot decide to make the last sector un-accessable.
That and from what it looks like more people are having routers 'bricked' similar when trying to enable jffs in pre-sp2... I as well had my board/radio config wiped, someone posted a memory dump from a working ar430w/dir300 containing your board/radio config and you should also be able to hex in your mac addresses, haven't tried it yet though.
I'm newbie in DD-WRT.
Today I got a DIR-300 and flashed with SP1 version and after upgraded to v24-pre-sp2 ( 11/19/08 ).
After a lot of troubles with SP1, I got it working with a X86 pc powered by Mikrotik Router OS in WDS mode after upgrade DD-WRT to pre-sp2. This PC have atheros ar5212 based card.
DIR-300 is working in WDS AP mode and PC is in "wds slave" mode.
I tried to enable WPA and WPA2 on both devices, but there was no connection.
Then I disabled crytography only in Mikrotik and it works!
DD-WRT says it using "WPA2 Personal", but Mikrotik connect without any key.
Can anyone confirm if is it a bug in this version of DD-WRT?
Been test the latest version 211108... still having Client Bridge issue, connection drops, as well as internet connection (tried both setting Gateway/Router in advance network).

I'm using (2) AR430W with build 11006 in a WDS configuration WPA2 and it's working excellent. Finally a stable build for Airlink Ar430W. Not gonna mess with it no more now that it's working perfect for me.

how to flash back from oswave? via web gui or redboot?
u will have to do a deep search on the crap oswave wiki. then it will tell u to flash the orig dlink 1.03 via web-if. this bricks my box to death

OK, I will test 11282008 release.
But, it's working normaly with 11192008, only WEP/WPA/WPA2 weren't working in WDS mode with MK.
I'll post some results tomorrow.
Yesterday I upgraded from 02112008 (iirc) which was working fine to 19112008. Very unstable, clients had problems authenticating and after a while the AP started asking for WEP instead of WPA2. Very similar to old buggy behaviour which was fixed by BS about a month ago.
I am now upgrading to 28112008 to see if its more stable.
