I recently loaded DD-WRT
(Firmware: DD-WRT v24-sp2 (10/10/09) std)
On my DIR-300, and configured it as an access point using the settings described here:
http://www.dd-wrt.com/wiki/index.php/Wireless_Access_Point

However, I have noticed now, that my internet speeds have been reduced dramatically.

When I plug my computer directly into the modem, I can get a download speed from my host at ~170kBps

However, when plugged directly into the DIR-300 with DD-WRT, I get about 60-70kBps. Wireless transfer is similar, if not slightly worse.

The Router is connected to the modem directly via cable. I don't have QoS or firewall enabled, and ifconfig doesn't show transfer errors.

Ok...
I used the "recommended" version.
But I'll try the latest soon.
Until then, I'm still open for recommendations

Upgrading didn't help.
What now?

I have the same router and firmware. My wireless is also really slow, compared with my previous router which is also G standard.

I've changed the channel, the encryption, the position of the router - nothing helps. What's wrong with it?

It's worse than frustrating - the router's totally unusable. Slow isn't the word. Pings are a nightmare (www.pingtest.net rates as "F"). Most web pages don't load at all.

I'm a newbie to DD-WRT, but I'm fairly handy with most things tech. If anyone can tell me what to adjust or tweak as necessary, please do!

What have you done differently, then?
I never had these issues before using DD-WRT

I updated to the latest, 30/30/30 reset, and followed the guide to the letter:
http://www.dd-wrt.com/wiki/index.php/Wireless_Access_Point

Plugged directly into my machines via (the same) cable, I get a download rate of ~160KB/s

Plugged directly into the configured DIR-300 with DD-WRT, I get ~15KB/s or less.
Wireless is no different.

I tested a file transfer across the network:

Bandwidth monitor graphs shows a LAN output of about 10Kb/s
Lan Input of 30+ Mb/s

Wireless Out: ~20+ Mb/s
Wireless In: 300+ Kb/s

So, why is the Lan Output so low? What does that indicate?

Attached a typical graph screenshot

is there a way to downgrade to the original firmware?

I can't seem to get into Redboot following this guide:
http://www.shadowandy.net/2007/10/flashing-dir-300-back-to-original-firmware.htm

Is getting into DD-WRT redboot any different?
Is a downgrade even possible? I have read comments that it is highly not recommended

I've got the same problems with my dir-300 B1E and the same with my dir-600 B2E.

When connected via LAN everything is smooth, but if I use WLAN it takes about 10 to 20 sec. before the side begins to load – and then it will take about the samre time until the side is loaded.

My computer (MacBook Pro) is positioned about 30 cm away from the router, so it's not a problem with bad reception.

Is there any news about this problem?
