the ipk in the diwnloads.openwrt has problems that can be solved by compiling with gcc 4.3.3 or higher

The rtorrent ipk from here http://downloads.openwrt.org/backfire/10.03.1-rc3/atheros/packages/ works fine on tp-link 1043. Are you sure that you need ipk for kamikaze? Try to install transmission torrent client. It works fine too.

I tried the ipk and every time when a torrent starts it returns "terminated after a torrent::close_connection" and people say it's a compiler bug.

I also tried transmission but it crashes the whole router 5 min. after the start of a torrent.

Please tell which method did you use to install rtorrent and transmission? opkg?
