anyone got PPTP WAN working on D-Link 880l?
I'm using the latest build (05-19-2015-r26947) and PPTP WAN does not work.
It does not shown any error in the log just the below lines repeated every few seconds:
pppd[xxx]: pppd started by root, uid 0
pppd[xxx]: Exit.

Read comment 7 on how the new PPTP works: http://svn.dd-wrt.com/ticket/4084#comment:7 and please reply back if you manage to fix it.

Thanks, KrypteX.
I have managed to get it working when I use PPTP from 'Services->VPN' screen.
However, it still does not work from WAN setup screen.
And I prefer to use PPTP from WAN setup screen because it works great with port forwarding, firewall and UPNP.
Otherwise, if I initiate PPTP from 'Services->VPN' screen - it ignores all my port forwarding and firewall rules (and UPNP port opening also does not work).

Hello all,

I've try to configure WAN VLAN PPP in DIR-880 but that fail to work.

I try to follow the guide below
http://klseet.com/index.php/12-dd-wrt/dd-wrt-setup/15-setup-for-unifi

The creation of VLAN is success.**
**I use VLAN 501 in my lab for verification
However when capture from WAN. I still see there is no VLAN ID from the WAN PPP PADI packet.

However changing the below...
nvram set pppoe_wan_ifname=vlan2.501
Caused the PADI packet show and PPP server PADO.
But then slient...

I try to do some modification but still no luck...

root@DD-WRT:~# nvram get force_vlan_supp
enabled (Default is not configured)
root@DD-WRT:~# nvram show | grep vlan.*ports
size: 31163 bytes (34373 left)
vlan2ports=4 5* (try also 4 5t)
vlan0ports=1 2 3 4 5*
vlan1ports=0 1 2 3 5*
root@DD-WRT:~# nvram show | grep port.*vlans
size: 31163 bytes (34373 left)
port5vlans=0 1 2 16 (Was 0 1 16)
port3vlans=0
port1vlans=0
port4vlans=0
port2vlans=0
port0vlans=1
root@DD-WRT:~# nvram show | grep vlan.*hwname
size: 31163 bytes (34373 left)
vlan2hwname=et0
vlan1hwname=et0
vlan0hwname=et0

Any Advise?

double tagging wont work with broadcom devices. packet goes out tagged, but is filtered at input. so you wont see any reply. the vlans are using to device ohne ethernet mac into wan and lan port(s). but double tagging is not possible. the only way is to program the switch to add a tag for certain ports. but this again works only for vlan 1 - 15. everything else is not supported by the hardware. you can use the vlan tab to manually add a specific tag to a port

BrainSlayer, would you be kind enough to fix the wireless on the DIR-880L, I am using v24-sp2 (05/19/15) std - build 26947 and the wireless is better than previous versions except that bandwidth is lesser than stock firmware, 5GHz coverage needs checking, wireless leds are off, all owners would much appreciate the extra extra work you are doing for us, thank you

Using DD-WRT v24-sp2 (06/05/15) std - build 27240.
( Installed doing the 30/30/30 reset before and after flashing.)

Since this release, signal quality improved; however I still see some devices losing connectivity for a short period ( 1-2 minutes; multiple times in an hour ) even though the signal quality doesn't drop.

Any ideas what can cause this occasional loss of connectivity ?

Almost tempted to reinstall the stock firmware again. Sad

So we cannot use any VID >> 15?
That is kind of sad...

Is this limitation from DD-WRT or from the SoC?

Just loaded flashed my 880L and noticed OpenVPN support section is missing in DD-WRT firmware. Is this something which can be added or is the hardware not capable? Thank you.

Edit: I found newer 2015 firmware build which does have openvpn enabled.

Hi guys,
I flashed my DIR-880L with:
1. 2015.08.25-r27745
2. 2015.03.27-r26587
3. 2015.04.09-r26653

Everytime i put something (MAC, IP) in Static Leases (Services/DHCP) and i apply that i loose connection to internet (firmware 1. & 2.) or i can't open/ping any website (firmware 3.).
Could you please help me on that?
Thanks in advance.

Hi Everyone,
I've tried to flash my white color DIR880L:
http://www.dlink.com/hu/hu/support/product/dir-880l-wi-fi-ac1900-router
with:
DIR-880L Firmware: Image for initial flashing factory-to-ddwrt.bin 2015-04-09 7,13 MB
found in router databse:
http://www.dd-wrt.com/site/support/router-database.
Unfortunately it failed, and I had to TFTP to flash the factory firmware.
As I can see, you flashed newer releases successfuly. Could you please advise, how did you succseed? In addition How can I ensure, that flashing newer build is possible,however in router database an older release is available from the dropdown only. Maybe D-Link changed sg in the white color version of this router?
Thank you

Did you try flashing the accompanying factory-to-ddwrt.bin in the latest release dir for 880L?

Hi lizard0101,
My DIR880L is also white and I flashed it successfully to DD-WRT.

1. Set the router to factory default settings (D-Link firmware)
2. Download following files (Downloads›betas›2015›09-07-2015-r27775›dlink-dir880l):
http://www.dd-wrt.com/site/support/other-downloads?path=betas%2F2015%2F09-07-2015-r27775%2Fdlink-dir880l%2F
3. Disable your WIFI and connect your computer directly via LAN-Cable to your 880L (to port 1-4).
4. Set the IP-adress of your PC to e.g. 192.168.0.240 (must be different than 192.168.0.1) and netmask to 255.255.255.0
5. Clean up your Firefox and flush your DNS. Logon your 880L and perform firmware update using factory-to-ddwrt.bin
6. After it's complete and your router booted up, set the IP-adress of your PC to e.g. 192.168.1.240 (must be different than 192.168.1.1) and netmask to 255.255.255.0
7. Logon to your DD-WRT router (192.168.1.1) and set the user name and Pass
8. Erase NVRAM:
http://www.dd-wrt.com/wiki/index.php/Hard_reset_or_30/30/30
9. Repeat point N°7 and update firmware using file dir880-webflash.bin
10. Repeat point N°8.

So far with this build everything works fine (also DHCP issue is gone from my last post). There is only one issue with WIFI LEDs:
2,4 GHz:
WIFI OFF --> LED on
WIFI ON --> LED off
5 GHZ:
WIFI OFF --> LED on
WIFI ON --> LED off

Unfortunatelly no matter what settings I put for 5Mgz it ias always working on the same channel with the same channel width 20MHz.

With standard D-Link firmware my iMac log to wifi 5Ghz with 40Mhz channel width, but when dd-wrt is on router it is showing 20Mhz - always.

So it looks like the changes are applied, router show the new setting but this is only nice picture and router behave as the change would not be applied.

Nothing helps actually, reboots, applying changes a few times etc....

Is it possible to do something about it as it is flustrating to have options which does not work at all.

Second issue is that Wifi works but leds are off. Somebody is testing the firmware??? - this seems to be basic....

I'm very dissapointed,

for 2,4Ghz it is basically behaving the sdame way as for 5GHz, so settings are ony on the 'paper' and router does what he wants...

Even more flustrating....
