Kong, first of all, thanks so much for all the time and effort and a quick question is it possible to implement auto update on the Dlink-DIR890L?

Guys ,

I had same problem with 2.4 wifi in 29850 and 29875 , so i think this issue is not related with which kernel is used ..

i have a litle clue / trick ...

it works with r8500 with 29850 / 29875 and R7000 with 29875 ..

when you lose connection by wifi 2.4 just go to webgui / wireless and press APPLY SETTINGS again .. Everything returns to normal and it working for me for next 5 days with no problems ..

Very Happy Very Happy

Well I asked Kong about this before.. If he was using the latest wireless drivers for the R8500 at least. I think he said he was gonna look into this a bit, but haven't heard anything further about it. As it would be nice if Kong could make sure the wireless drivers are up to date with what netgear has for the R8500.

EDIT: I know the above likely has no meaning to this exact issue though, as you mentioned it's affecting both the R8500/R7000.

Dear Kong,

Big thanks for porting the R6400. I have tried it and everything looks ok at first try. However when I increase the wireless distance the bandwidth drop dramatically. Can you test it?

I read on Wikidev that there are some signal boosters implemented in the hardware. Could it be that they are not used in this build?

From R6400 Wikidev:
Additional chips
2.4GHz Power Amplifier IC;Skyworks;SE2528L;SiGe, 2528L, 215DC;3;
5GHz Power Amplifier IC;Skyworks;SE5003L1;5003L1, 218BN, 1219 MY;3;

Big thanks for supporting the R6400!

Is there any chance to get a changelog in threads like this?

For example, I am running a build from may and it works just fine.. so without knowing the changes/changelog, why would I even update?

There used to be one here http://www.dd-wrt.com/phpBB2/viewtopic.php?t=279467 but it hasn't been updated in a few weeks. Still, you might find it valuable.

Otherwise, the timeline is really the only other place to look: http://svn.dd-wrt.com/timeline

And those changes apply to Kong as well as to BS?

Well it is kind of normal, that bandwidth goes down with distance:-)

Both PAs are supported by the driver and signal looks great.

If you have details, like benchmark comparison between dd-wrt and netgear fw I can look into it.
R6400 is currently my main unit.

R7000 updated with

Code:
ddup --flash-latest

It's been only couple of hours but no issues. I'll report if I find something in the next 48 hours.

By the way. Where can I find a change log for this build version?

Can you please describe exactly your issue. I had wifi issues with build from April. I hope I won't get one now but I just want to verify if we both had the same problem.

For me, every time I watched a youtube or facebook video, there would be a sudden loss of wifi signal and after about a minute it would resume and reconnect.
Similar thing is happening with my Google Chrome Cast 2 on 5Ghz band. There are sudden dropouts of wifi signal.

But no issues with wired devices.

Flashed the newest test build under the k4 test folder R29980. Had no issue of it coming back up without the endless reboot. It is stable. Lets see how many days it stays up.

Router: Netgear AC1450
Firmware: DD-WRT v3.0-r29875M kongac (06/11/16)
Kernel: Linux 3.10.101 #10 SMP Sat Jun 11 23:17:16 CEST 2016 armv7l
Status: Up
Reset: Yes
Errors: None

USB 3.0 Drive mapped at /mnt/sda1, remounted on startup to make DD-WRT take it as an ext2 drive (was taking it automatically as ext4) and adding noatime to its mount. With this I see an improvement from 10 MBs to 12 MBs.

If anyone has info on how to have the most speed possible via USB, it is greately appreciated.

Working:

Entware
Transmission
YAMon3

Startup:

Code:
umount /dev/sda1
mount -o noatime -t ext2 /dev/sda1 /tmp/mnt/sda1
mount -o bind /mnt/sda1/jffs /jffs
mount -o bind /jffs/opt /opt
/opt/bin/transmission-daemon  -g /opt/transmission

One week ago, on Jun 14, 2016, I posted that I had noticed an approximately 15% to 20% drop in WAN download speeds since installing r29875M. I did not know if this was the fault of the new version or my ISP. After one week, I can definitely say that I still don't know. Wink The tests seem to indicate a bit of a dropoff, but with occasional bump-ups in the throughput.

I could roll back to the previous kong version and run another week's worth of tests, but I'll leave it for now as this is a relatively minor issue.
